Seven Adds Up to Warehouse Sale

What do apparel manufacturers do when they have a lot of inventory sitting around their warehouses with no place to go?

They call Jimmy Tung, the chief executive of The Warehouse Sale in Burbank, Calif., who has been conducting fire sales for clothing makers since 2004.

Right now, Tung and his staff of 30 are organizing a big blowout sale for high-end labels 7 For All Mankind and John Varvatos, both owned by VF Corp.

The sale is huge. Think 30,000 pieces of 7 For All Mankind jeans, tops, jackets, dresses, handbags and kids’ apparel. Sitting next to it will be thousands of John Varvatos pieces such as suits, dress shirts, knits, sandals and leather goods. Seven For All Mankind jeans start at $65.

“This is going to be the first time 7 For All Mankind has done this kind of sale,” said Tung, who has conducted sales for other labels such as Ed Hardy.

Tung said VF Corp., based in Greensboro, N.C., approached him about organizing a gigantic merchandise liquidation event.

The sale at the Los Angeles Convention Center, in the West Hall, is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sept. 25-27. It’s wise to RSVP online to get in free and get in fast. That can be done at www.thewarehousesale.com or at www.7forallmankind.thewarehousesale.com.

Once the Los Angeles sale is over, the 7 For All Mankind portion of the giant clearance event will move to the Metropolitan Pavilion, at 123 W. 18th St., in New York City on Oct. 2-4. Bargain hunters unite.
