CFA, Wells Fargo to Host 'Crystal Ball' Economic Event

The California Fashion Association and Wells Fargo Trade Capital—along with a panel of industry experts—will take a look at the current economic environment and outlook for the future at a meeting set for Oct. 8 in downtown Los Angeles.

The event, dubbed “Economic Crystal Ball: Analyzing Today’s Challenges With a Look Toward the Future,” will feature a keynote address by James Paulsen, chief investment strategist for Wells Capital Management, who will discuss “issues of the present economy as they affect future business decisions.” In addition, guest speaker Marshal Cohen, chief industry analyst for Port Washington, N.Y.–based The NPD Group, will discuss “the future of retail—navigating the next retail frontier.”

Kevin Sullivan, executive vice president for Wells Fargo Trade Capital, will moderate the panel, which will include Stuart Brister, president of Wells Fargo Trade Capital; Richard Anderson, managing director of Moss Adams Capital; and Parshad Parekh, corporate sales manager for FedEx.

The panel will weigh in on the forecast for retailing, transportation, international trade, and other apparel and textile issues facing California’s industry, including financing opportunities for growth, the investment mood in the near term and transportation options.

Sponsored by FedEx and California Apparel News, the event will be held at the City Club in downtown Los Angeles. A networking section kicks off at 4:30 p.m., with the panel and Q&A session scheduled for 5 p.m., and cocktails following at 6 p.m.
