Fashion's Night Out--Coast to Coast

Los Angeles designer Trina Turk opened her Third Street boutique to the fashion crowd on Sept. 10, joining the lineup of West Coast designers and stores participating in Fashion’s Night Out.

Guests at Turk’s 3,300-square-foot mid-century gem of a store were treated to champagne and cupcakes while they mingled with the designer and previewed the latest collection. Shoppers received an exclusive “Mum’s the Word” silk scarf with purchase.

Spearheaded by Vogue magazine and the Council of Fashion Designers of America, Fashion’s Night Out was an international initiative “to promote retail, restore consumer confidence and celebrate fashion.”

In New York, two Los Angeles designers—Yotam Solomon (fashion) and Preston Lee (interior design)—teamed up to create an installation at Design Within Reach that showed how the two disciplines interconnect.

The Sept. 10 event featured models dressed in Solomon’s Spring 2010 ready-to-wear and footwear collections in a space created by Lee.
