Shopping Vans Story

Vans' new Heritage store in Long Beach

Vans has a long history of showing up on the feet of skaters and surfers, and the brand showed off some of that concrete-shredding past when it opened one of its handful of "Heritage" shops recently in Long Beach’s Second Street shopping district.

The heritage on display at the Vans boutique located at 5232 E. Second St. is memorabilia, encased under glass, of athletes currently on its skateboard team such as Geoff Rowley and Johnny Layton. There is memorabilia of other legends, surfer Nathan Fletcher for example, however the main show is Vans product such as skinny jeans, hoodies, T-shirts, hats and other accessories as well as a giant back wall devoted to its many different styles of footwear.

There are three other Vans Heritage shops – the other locations are in the California towns of Hermosa Beach, Santa Barbara and Redlands. No other Heritage shops are scheduled to be built, however Vans spokesman Chris Overholser said the company probably will open more in the future.
