Gerber Integrates YuniquePLM Into the Mix

Gerber Technology is going full-steam ahead with Yunique Solutions Inc., following Gerber’s acquisition of the company in December.

Gerber Technology, a division of Tolland, Conn.–based Gerber Scientific Inc., recently announced its new PLM (product lifecycle management) brand identity—YuniquePLM.

YuniquePLM offers a full range of product lifecycle management functionality, said Elizabeth King, director of software applications for Gerber Technology.

Gerber’s existing software solutions, including webPDM, will continue to be maintained, supported and enhanced, and the company will provide its webPDM customers with a migration plan to shift existing data to YuniquePLM.

“We have a very large customer base on webPDM,” King said. YuniquePLM is immediately available “for new customers and any existing customers that want to branch out to the extended offering of YuniquePLM,” she said.

The merger allows Gerber to take advantage of Yunique’s PLM solution, which is scalable and modular and runs on Microsoft’s .NET Web-based technology platform. Plus, in addition to line planning, collection management, tech-pack configurations, and calendaring and task management, YuniquePLM offers digital library management, sourcing RFQ, costing and supplier-relationship-management functions.

The result is an easy-to-use system, according to Foliage, a third-party software consulting and services group contracted to investigate YuniquePLM. “We found the quality of YuniquePLM’s .NET architecture and code to be extraordinarily high, contributing to exceptional customer satisfaction,” Foliage’s Tom Mariano said. “The code is mainstream and mature, yet leading edge.”AMR Research concurred, citing YuniquePLM’s “intuitive user interface and personalization and configuration capabilities.”

“These factors led to rarely seen enthusiasm from notoriously hard-to-please design groups during application-selection processes at several companies,” said AMR’s Janet Suleski.—Alison A. Nieder
