Give This Man a Tony

Chad Kimball, the designer of L.A.-based T-shirt line Obvious Clothing, has been nominated for a Tony Award in the Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical category for his role of Huey Calhoun in the Broadway musical Memphis.

Here is how TonyAwards.com describes Memphis: In the smoky halls and underground clubs of the segregated 1950s, a young white DJ named Huey Calhoun fell in love with everything he shouldn't: rock 'n' roll and an electrifying black singer. Memphis is an original story about the cultural revolution that erupted when his vision met her voice, and the music changed forever. In all, Memphis has been nominated for eight Tony awards this season.

If you are super-stoked for Kimball, visit the Obvious site, where he is selling a special, limited-edition commemorative Memphis T-shirt.

The Tonys, which will be awarded on June 13 and televised by CBS, are, as they say, a big deal. Congrats to Kimball and the Memphis cast!
