AE to Open in Hong Kong, China

Shoppers in China and Hong Kong are hungry for American Eagle’s take on fast fashion, a release from the Pittsburgh-based mall retailer said. To meet that demand, the retailer, which targets 15- to -25-year-old girls and boys and operates 936 stores in the United States and Canada, has signed an exclusive franchise agreement with Dickson Concepts.

As part of the new partnership, American Eagle and Dickson Concepts plan to open a series of stores over the next several years, with three openings—in Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai—planned for 2011. The Chinese and Hong Kong stores will carry seasonal American Eagle products, as well as intimates and dormwear lines.

This is the second such agreement for American Eagle, which earlier this year signed a deal to open franchised stores in Dubai and Kuwait. —Erin Barajas
