New Stores Opening in So. Cal.

Activewear company Bravada and one-of-a kind fashion studio Kao Pao Shu recently debuted in Los Angeles.

Bravada opened its first store, located at 322 Robertson Blvd. in Los Angeles, in a space that formerly housed men’s fashion store Avedon. The 3-year-old Bravada line is located close to the high-profile street’s stretch of premier-retail boutiques. Bravada will sell its self-named brand of women’s activewear along with other Brazilian women’s activewear label Bia Brazil and Canadian activewear label Vata Brasil. Retail price points for the store will be $38 for a bra and $140 for a jacket, said the label’s chief executive, Danny Alex.

He plans to build possibly up to five Bravada shops in the next year. After that, he plans to franchise more than 10 stores.

On June 1, Los Angeles line Kao Pao Shu opened its 5,000-square-foot boutique and studio compound at 1906 Olympic Blvd. in Santa Monica, Calif. Owner and founder Naida Bageta formerly operated the boutique at 7227 Beverly Blvd. in Los Angeles from 2008 to February 2010. She moved her boutique into the space of a former karate studio so she would have extra real estate for her design studio and offices.

Her most recent one-of-a-kind items feature handbags and dresses constructed out of ribbons. Retail price points for the store range from $100 to $1,200.

The Glendale Galleria retail center in Glendale, Calif., also announced store openings recently.

Popular skate and juniors emporium Tilly’s debuted a 6,830-square-foot store in the mall on May 26. Tilly’s operates 100 stores in United States. The retailer sells leading skate brands such as RVCA, Vans and Volcom.

Lingerie chain Soma Intimates debuted a 2,553-square-foot shop on the Galleria’s first level recently. This summer, Crazy8, a children’s concept store by Gymboree, will debut a 2,163-square-foot store in the Glendale Galleria’s Nordstrom wing.
