Estée Lauder Puts in New Person at Smashbox Studios

Davis and Dean Factor of Smashbox Beauty Cosmetics

Estée Lauder hasn't quite completed its acquisition of Smashbox Beauty Cosmetics and Smashbox Studios in Culver City, Calif.

But the big New York cosmetic powerhouse has announced it is sending a top-ranking executive to Los Angeles to work with the L.A. company's founders and other top brass.

Beth DiNardo, the new global general manager for the brand, will be relocating to the Smashbox Studio site soon to work with Dean Factor, the company's chief executive, and Budd Taylor, its president. The idea is for Estee Lauder to take advantage of Smashbox's expertise in online consumer outreach and digital and social media.

Smashbox Beauty Cosmetics was founded by Dean Factor with Davis, his brother, in 1986, a fitting endeavor since their great-grandfather was the famed Max Factor. For several years, they helped organize Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios, where many new Los Angeles designers staged their first runway shows.
