Got Samples?

If you have samples, overstock or last-season’s merchandise, why not donate to a good cause? You will get a tax donation for your generosity and 100 percent of the funds raised will benefit people in need.

California Apparel News and the Cooper Design Space are teaming up again to host another sample sale to raise funds for CAST LA, the Coalition to Abolish Slavery Trafficking.

To give you an idea of what CAST does: There are an estimated 27 million people enslaved around the world, including as many as 50,000 in the United States. Los Angeles is one of the top three points of entry for trafficked individuals. Most of the victims are women and children, although 14 percent of the victims CAST helps are men. CAST opened the first shelter for victims of human trafficking in 2004 and has been on the California Statewide Task Force on Human Trafficking since 2005.

The fund-raiser will be held on Friday June 25 and Saturday June 26 in a small retail space just off the Cooper Design Space lobby.

If you’re interested in donating or want more information, please email me at molly@apparelnews.net or the Cooper building’s Mona Sangkala at mona@cooperdesignspace.com. You can also drop off samples at the Cooper Building—860 S. Los Angeles St.—just mark them “attention: Mona.”

And thank you for your help!
