Argentina Meets Hollywood

Friday, November 26, 2010

A trio of Argentine designers from the South American country’s Mendoza province showed their red-carpet best at a Nov. 19 luncheon at the Los Angeles home of Argentine Consul General Jorge Lapsenson.

Timed to coincide with an Argentine film festival hosted by the American Cinematheque at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood, the event featured a runway show of dresses and gowns by Norma Lopez, Rauacute;l Saldentilde;a and Ariel Quintana.

Highlights included Lopez’s flirty floral cocktail dress with ruffled hem and her ruched-bodice gown in an oversize floral print. Saldentilde;a’s collection ranged from a Bordeaux-colored gown covered in laser-cut ruffles to a two-piece number that included zebra-print chiffon and sequined hot pants. Quintana’s collection included a gray gown with a silver-beaded bodice and a copper-colored gown covered in palettes and mesh and topped with a shrug of bronze feathers.—Alison A. Nieder
