It Pays to Shop at Banana
Customers shopping at Banana Republic, the upscale division of San Francisco–based Gap Inc., in the United States and Canada over the Labor Day weekend have a shot at winning their salary in one lump sum. Customers shopping in Banana Republic stores receive a game piece that includes discounts off their weekend purchases. The grand-prize winner will win his or her salary (up to $100,000, with a minimum payout of $50,000) in a one-time payment. The company has been polling its Facebook fans to see what they would do if they won. Most said they would take a dream vacation or pay off their debts. And some said they would start a business or stockpile the cash.
