The Nitro dress of Yotam Solomon's Oil Spill Collection

The BP oil spill inspired a veritable industry of T-shirts protesting the disaster (remember the Spill, Baby Spill tee?) Los Angeles-based fashion designer Yotam Solomon also put his outrage on threads.

Solomon recently debuted the Oil Spill Collection for his Spring 2011 line. The 19-piece collection used some of the unique colors seen in the oily water and some of the shapes of the oil slicks floating around the Gulf of Mexico. Solomon had designed solely for private patrons since he started his business in 2007. The Oil Spill Collection will be the first line that he will make available to boutiques and other retailers. Solomon said he will donate some of the profits of this collection to eco-groups Natural Resources Defense Council and Defenders of Wildlife. “We can save wildlife and keep our planet evergreen,” Solomon said. “We can also keep creating beauty during hard times.”
