Beverly Center to Kick Off 2011 Fashion's Night Out

Last year's debut: Antonio Villaraigosa at Beverly Center's 2010 Fashion's Night Out

There's nothing like a little bit of planning. Sept. 8 is confirmed to be the date for 2011 Fashion's Night Out, a global party celebrating fashion retail. Beverly Center management confirmed April 28 that it was selected by the City of Los Angeles to host the kickoff event of the citywide fashion block party.

Last year, Beverly Center hosted a Fashion's Night Out kickoff event that was embraced by the city hall and the celebrity crowds. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa gave a speech lauding fashion retail at the party, and Will.i.am of Grammy award-winning band Black Eyed Peas made comments on how fashion influenced his life. Later that night, two runway shows were produced at Beverly Center.

Beverly Center plans to outdo itself with the 2011 Fashion's Night Out. Susan Vance, the center's marketing and sponsorship director, said the event would be celebrity-driven and start in the mall's central court. After the kickoff event, entertainment would be produced throughout the center. In 2010, more than 25,000 people passed through Beverly Center on Fashion's Night Out.

Fashion's Night Out is intended to be a citywide event. If retailers want to host an official party, they can sign up at the Class Trade Show, which runs May 12-13 at Siren Studios in Hollywood. The City of Los Angeles will host a booth where retailers can register to host an official gala, said Hanna Dios, Class' co-founder and partner. For more information, visit Class' website.
