Mobile App Puts Fit Information in the Phone

A Sunnyvale, Calif.–based company is putting fit information in the palm of the hand with a mobilephone app that will translate sizing specifications from brand t o brand.

MySizeFinder (http://www.mysizefinder/) works by matching the user’s measurements with sizing data collected from more than 300 brands. Users input chest, waist and hip measurements and whether she has a petite or regular frame. The user can also input other people’s size specs so the user can match friends’ measurements to the correct size within a specific brand or retailer.

“Buying clothes is hard,” said Kavita Setty, president of MySizeFinder. “Each brand has their own clothing size chart, and there have been no standards to follow. This leaves only one option—to try before you buy. Not every woman has the time or the interest to try every piece of clothing before she buys. The goal of MySizeFinder is to help you find the clothes of your size without having to try them on.”

Setty is an associate at Foresight Plus LLC, a Bay Area consultancy, and the coorganizer of Cerebrate, an invitation-only networking events series in Silicon Valley, Calif.

MySizeFinder currently features women’s size information only. The app is available for the iPhone and Android and is introductorily priced at 99 cents. The company is planning to donate a portion of proceeds to charities, including the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
