Surfing in the Post-Apocalypse

YEAR ZERO TRAILER from GLOBE on Vimeo.

We have an unconditional love for anything prefaced by “post-apocalyptic,” especially when it’s the headline of a mood board. Globe, showing at Agenda starting tomorrow, will be premiering its newest surf flick “0000” (as in Year Zero) on opening night. The inspiration: “post apocalyptic.” The boardshorts: “like that pair of boardies you’d pull out of a trash.”

The trailer has the stereotypically surf porn, obligatory bikini babe shots and aggro music. What do you expect from a company promoting its sponsored riders to teenage boys hopped on energy drinks? Stay with us. The boardshorts however, sound promising.

Designer Thain Taylor based in Melbourne (the company’s U.S. marketing headquarters are based in L.A.) described the limited edition 0000 trunks to be shown at Agenda as having panels patched together to look “kind of like that pair of boardies that you’d pull out of a trash and put on a few extra pockets or another button from another garment or stuff like that.” Mad Max meets the beach.
