Stretta: Sassy, Smart, Sexy and Sophisticated Dresses

Stretta, a line of dresses by Mayren Viray and Eric Benarouche, can be described by the four S’s: sassy, smart, sexy and sophisticated. Launched for Fall 2011, the line is made for the sexy, young, sophisticated working woman who is not afraid to show off her body. The collection includes bandage-style dresses along with skirts and leggings inspired by designers such as Herveacute; Leacute;ger, Azzedine Alaiuml;a and Roland Mouret. Viray, who previously worked at Los Angeles–based Bebe and FoothillRanch, Calif.–based Arden B., as well as Prey, her own line, translates her experience into the collection.

Viray serves as design director of Stretta, and partner and co-founder Benarouche serves as chief executive officer.

Stretta’s dresses are made with the same quality fabrics as Herveacute; Leacute;ger yet have a younger fit and a more hip and trendy feel. Inspired by the people around Viray—especially her friends—each dress has its own personality. Some are made with leather and lace details, and each is named after someone the designer knows. For Viray, the quality of the line is just as important as its style.

Produced overseas in Hong Kong and China, the collection’s heavy rayon/spandex knit fabrics are made on special machinery. Maintaining a balance of design and accessibility, the line is wholesale priced from $99 to $239.

Los Angeles–area retailers, boutiques and online outlets—including Fred Segal Melrose, Intermix, Madison, Planet Blue, Divine, Revolve, Shop Bop, Cusp and Pink Mascara—already carry the line. The next step for Viray and Benarouche is overseas. The line is slated to be sold in Malaysia, Indonesia, Russia, Germany, China and Singapore come fall.
