American Apparel Opens In-Store Shop in Lille

Los Angeles–based vertical manufacturer and retailer American Apparel opened an in-store shop in the Galeries Lafayette in Lille, France. The 322-square-foot in-store shop features American Apparel’s best-selling basics, as well as some newer fashion pieces, including winter items such as peacoats, sweaters, capes and accessories. The company plans to hire about 20 new employees for the store. American Apparel opened its first store in France in 2005 and currently operates in 12 locations, including Paris, Toulouse and Aix-en-Provence. “France has always been one of our strongest markets, and we’re excited for the opportunity to serve a new customer base in Lille,” said Marsha Brady, a creative director for American Apparel. “The French people have repeatedly demonstrated their affinity for and understanding of American Apparel’s fashionable basics philosophy, so we truly appreciate this new opportunity to serve their interests.”—A.A.N.
