Louis Verdad Returns With New Collection

Louis Verdad fecirc;ted the relaunch of his eponymous brand with a cocktail soiree and runway presentation on Dec. 1. It was an intimate affair as editors and attendees gathered to see the designer’s new made-to-order collection at Boa Gallery.

Verdad said he wanted to create a collection with no inhibitions or limitations to celebrate the relaunch. The result was a colorful collection full of glamorous clothing inspired by the woman whom Verdad desires to dress. “She takes risks, she goes to the red carpet, she drives a Hummer and a BMW, she is very social, and she’s not afraid of what the economy is saying right now because she can afford it,” he said.

There was a mix of styles on the runway—from flirty ’50s-style dresses to color block ensembles, Verdad’s signature sharply tailored suits and sexy cut-to-there gowns. New in the mix were a variety of knits created in collaboration with Anthropologie’s Steven Oo. The event was held in partnership with e-commerce site Project Artisan, which was on site to sell the collection following the event.—N. Jayne SewardImages from the event may be found here.
