Unless You're on a Bike, Keep Off the Green!

Bicycle! Bicycle! I want to ride my bicycle! I want to ride my bike!

There’s a new bright green line running through downtown Los Angeles—and this week it reached the L.A. Fashion District.

The bright new bike lane on Spring treet starts at Cesar Chaves and will eventually extend to Venice Boulevard, according to Kent Smith, executive director of the Los Angeles Fashion District.

Sadly, for now, only southbound bike riders get their own lane, although eventually, there will be a northbound lane on Main Street.

It’s all part of the ominous sounding “Final Bicycle Master Plan,” which calls for more than 800 miles of bikeways and “a comprehensive bicycle network and set of programs throughout the unincorporated communities of the County of Los Angeles for 20 years.”

So, unless you’re bicycling, keep off the green!
