No skateboarder will tell you anything different.

Skateboarding is a contact sport. Hop on that skate deck, you’ll probably scrape yourself up or even break a couple of bones. The sport’s true fanatics try to laugh off the frequent injuries. And that is the spirit that DC Shoes, a division of Quiksilver, hoped to capture when it debuted Nvrbrkn. “It’s about overcoming adversity,” said Hommy Diaz, a design and marketing manager for the line.

On Dec. 8, the new line produced a raucous and very crowded party for Nvrbrkn at Conveyor, the streetwear/sneaker pimp boutique at Fred Segal Santa Monica.

Nvrbrkn’s shoes were topic of spirited conversation at the party, but we were intrigued by the line’s pea coat, which was made in partnership with venerable jacket maker Schott NYC. So far Nvrbrkn has been placed at core skate shops.
