Peru Group Visits L.A.

A delegation of Peruvian designers and manufacturers specializing in items made from alpaca fiber recently visited Los Angeles on a five-day mission to learn about the U.S. market.

Los Angeles–based educational nonprofit Fashion Business Inc. hosted the group, which included manufacturers of women’s and children’s sweaters, outerwear and accessories. The delegation received an overview of FBI courses, ranging from trend forecasting and public relations to legal issues and trade show participation. The tour also included visits to the Port of Los Angeles, the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, several showroom buildings in the Los Angeles Fashion District and retail neighborhoods in Southern California.

The group was organized by PromPeru, the Peruvian export agency, which will also host a group of 10 designers at the upcoming Sourcing at MAGIC trade show in Las Vegas in February.—A.A.N.
