Peru to See Seven Free-Trade Pacts Go Into Effect in 2012

While the United States has been busy putting together the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement, Peru has been active in its own free-trade negotiations.

In 2012, the South American country will see seven free-trade accords open up exports to the European Union, Japan, Thailand, Mexico, Panama, Guatemala and Costa Rica.

The Ministry of Trade and Tourism said its agreement with Venezuela should be signed during the first half of 2012. The government will also continue trade negotiations with Honduras and El Salvador to round out its access to the Latin American market.—D.B.
