Gap#039;s E-Tail Goes Abroad

San Francisco–based Gap Inc. has added additional countries in Europe to its e-commerce lineup for its Gap and Banana Republic brands. Since last August, the company has been selling to European customers through its www.gap.eu and www.bananarepublic.eu sites. Gap’s European customers can shop the sites in English and pay in British pounds. The European program started in the United Kingdom last year. So far, 18 countries are part of the program. Gap is looking to expand internationally. Last year, the company opened its first Gap and Banana Republic stores in Italy and opened company-owned Gap stores in China, as well as a Chinese e-commerce site at www.gap.cn.
