Don't Call Him Sir

Ted Baker's Ray Kelvin famously never allows his face to be photographed

Sporting a Monty Python-esque sense of humor and an affectation for an outré Mod look, U.K. fashion label Ted Baker presents itself with a decidely English style.

However founder Ray Kelvin has been spending most of his time Stateside. For the past six years, he’s been opening Ted Baker stores across America, and he reportedly maintains a house in Malibu.

But word of Ted Baker’s American success must have reached royal ears. Kelvin was recently honored with a Commander of the British Empire medal. No, you don’t get to call him sir. The honorific apparently is Commander.

Tamara Mellon, a co-founder of Jimmy Choo, was recently awarded with a similar honor, Order of British Empire.
