I Love L.A.

You know what I love about Los Angeles? Craftsmen bungalows. And industrial streetscapes. And the random appearance of Ferris wheels.

Apparently so does Michael Sy, architect, graphic designer and—full disclosure--my longtime friend.

Michael has a line of T-shirts, pillows—and, I just discovered, ties—embroidered with many of the things I love about L.A.—plus much more. (I’m digging the sneakers tee and the one with the retro touch-tone phone, too.)

Michael’s design company is called Service Studio and his tees, ties and pillows are produced under the SoftService label. He sells them to Los Angeles interior design store Living Room, located on Sunset Boulevard in Silverlake, and has a shop on Etsy.

He's also the founder of Designers Out + About--a social networking group for LGBT designers and creative professionals (and the people who love them). The group meets for drinks and sparkling conversation around town. Recent events have been held at Mas Malo, Red Medicine and The London West Hollywood.
