F2 Runway Show Puts Fall In Focus

The “F2 Runway Show,” held June 13 in the penthouse of the California Market Center in Los Angeles, highlighted several innovative creations by up-and-coming designers venturing out into the fashion world.

Zuur Jeans, whose slim-fitting styles are made from imported Japanese and Italian denim, is new on the scene after Miguel Estrada, the designer, decided to follow his flair for fashion. The pants, sewn in Los Angeles, looked sharp with cropped and slim-fitting silhouettes that went well with boots or sandals.

Luii Jackets shined with capes and fitted jackets in both eye-popping colors and more-subdued tones. Ruffles or oversized shiny buttons accented the trendy looks.

Lina Mendoza, a native of Colombia who now lives in the San Diego area, had an eponymous line that was rich in maxi-dresses that felt sophisticated yet fun. She played with color and bright prints for a bit of whimsy. Halter tops were favorite silhouettes on many of the long sheaths.

Tyler Kim, whose line includes dresses and separates, had rich animal prints and artistic designs printed on silk and rayon seen on dolman-sleeved blouses and wispy dresses.

For those who like to buy a dress that takes on many forms, Pouch is for you. It has introduced “The Versatile Dress,” which can be worn seven different ways—from a plunge v-neck to a knotted halter to an off-the-shoulder look. The dress, in various lengths, comes in a solid print, knitted fab ric that is as comfortable as it is practical.

Annie & Jade by Annie Le is a relatively new line by Vietnamese-American designer Annie Le, who studied at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising. Her silhouettes had a classic air that recaptured a bit of that “Mad Men” era of rich fabrics and top-notch designs.—Deborah Belgum
