AP Takes Aim at Nordstrom, Zumiez

The Associated Press filed suit in U.S. District Court in New York against retailers Nordstrom and Zumiez for selling apparel using the now-familiar Barack Obama “Hope” graphic created by Shepard Fairey, artist and owner of Obey Clothing. The AP originally sued Fairey arguing that the image of Obama featured in the “Hope” graphic was taken from an AP-copyrighted image. Although Fairey argued fair use, the artist and AP settled their dispute out of court.
