Thread Show for Emerging Designs Kicks Off Ninth Season

Thread, a consumer show for emerging designers and artists, will kick off its ninth show season on April 3 at the Horton Event Space in San Diego.

The San Diego–headquartered Thread will produce shows in San Francisco, Seattle, Los Angeles and Costa Mesa, Calif., this year. The shows typically feature 100 booths where emerging designers sell fashions and crowds get to listen to bands, take pictures at photo booths and get manicures.

Thread launched in 2003, and the shows are typically held at 30,000-square-foot spaces; more than 2,000 people attend the events. The early-bird rate for booth space is $295, according to the company website, and consumers pay $10 for show admittance at the door. Thread also will make available premium tickets for $25, which includes a cocktail and a gift bag.

Danielle Gano, a Thread representative, said the show is a place where the fashion community can get a first look at emerging designers. “Thread gives trend setters an opportunity to meet designers face-to-face hellip; [and] feed the local economy,” she said.
