No Save for Hope

Hi Everyone,

Last night was elimination night no. 9 on “Dancing With The Stars”—countdown to the finale!

The show opened with Len Goodman’s encore performance of Rob and Cheryl’s carnival rainbow float-inspired Samba—this time, performed with no pressure. He can dance and have fun.

After the dance, the audience found out who would be in the finals. The first couples on the chopping block were Rob and Cheryl and Hope and Maks. Yes, Rob and Cheryl were saved to dance in the finals. Hope and Maks are in jeopardy.

Surprised? Cheryl hasn’t been in the finals for a long time. But she has won twice.

Next up was the group Cobra Starship featuring Sabi singing their hit song “You Make Me Feel.” Nice pop club synthesized performance. They were accompanied by the pros Tristan MacManus and Kym Johnson and the troupe.

The producers brought back the style guru Carson Kressley, (We just can't seem to get rid of him, huh?) to do a “Queer Eye For The Ballroom Guy” segment. He followed the process in which the costume designers create the clothes that the couples are going to wear—from design concept, selection of fabrics and consultation with the couples. Kind of funny.

For the Macy’s viewer Design-a-Dance, viewers chose Anna Trebunskaya and (Golden Boy) Derek. They performed a hot Paso Doble to Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance.” Also, their costumes were created by a young girl named Amanda Wolfe.

For the final ATT Spotlight performance of the season, they introduced us to four young male dancers: Kyle Scanlan, David Guzman, Jacob Guzman and Matt Gilmore from the dance academy Gold School in Brockton, Mass. Gold School is the same academy that produced Kenny Wormald, the lead in the remake of “Footloose.”

They dancers about the constant bullying and ridicule they suffered by being male dancers. But they made out like a bandit by performing on a national stage in front of millions with the hottest female pro dancers around. Who’s jealous, NOW?

That wasn’t the end of warm and fuzzy. Kermit, Missy Piggy and company took over the stage performing their song “Life’s a Happy Song” from the new Muppet movie. The Muppets were accompanied by a group of dancers choreographed by Michael Rooney.

Now, back to business. The next couple that would be in the finals is non other than Ricki and Derek.

Then the drama begins with the last two couples in jeopardy. After a long pause, the final couple to move to next week’s finale was J.R. and Karina. Hope and Maks were eliminated.

Let’s be real now. We all knew this was going to be her swan song. HOPE, NO LONGER FLOATS! But she wasn’t too gracious about it, either. I heard it through the grapevine that she refused to talk to the press afterwards. She said she was too emotionally drained. Apparently, this is the first time any eliminated “star” refused to talk to the press.

Well, who do you think will be the winner? Will Golden Boy Derek lead his star to a 4th win? Will it be the dark horse Rob or our military hero J.R.? Stay tuned till next week’s finale.

Until then, keep on dancing!
