Kitson Takes a Holiday

Prominent Los Angeles boutique chain Kitson has cultivated a reputation as the go-to place for fun pop-culture gifts and premium denim since starting business in 2000. It showed a different side of its fashion personality #8232;Nov. 11, when the chain debuted Holiday looks for its line of women’s fashions, which are named after the store. The runway show for the 30-piece collection took place at Hollywood nightclub The Colony. The Holiday collection’s mixed inspirations for various decades ranged from glammed-up 1970s hippie looks and contemporary nightclub attire to timeless sequined cocktail dresses. The collection seemed to stress the mini cocktail dresses. They sparkled with several colorways, including metallic purples, golds and blacks. The dresses displayed full sleeves and hems that reached down to the thigh. The contemporary nightclub looks offered styles such as a midriff-baring top and a lacey bikini top. Several of the looks were topped with faux-fur vests. The collection also displayed floppy 1970s-style hats with sequined Laurel Canyon–style shirts.Retail price points for Kitson’s Holiday styles range from $58 to $495. The looks will be sold exclusively at Kitson until spring 2012, said Dean Khial, a Kitson representative.“The inspiration was affordable luxury,” he said. “Everyone can have something nice without breaking the bank.”—Andrew AschMore images available here.
