Baggy pants made way for the slim chino awhile back. When you see them on the street, thank Eunice Lee for this ubiquitous men’s look.

The designer said she started making the slim chino around 2000 when she opened a boutique for her Unis men’s brand by New York’s Bowery neighborhood. On Nov. 18, she opened a second Unis shop, this one is located at 138 S. La Brea Ave. in Los Angeles. Located a couple of storefronts up from American Rag, the new Unis is nestled in the spot formerly occupied by avant garde fashion shop Case Study.

The tasteful, gallery-like shop is devoted to Lee’s casual classics as well as her suitingand outerwear for guys. “As a woman, it’s the way I want to see a man dress,” Lee said of her line. The indie basicsstyle is reflected by the other fashion lines sold in the shop, which hail from American made labels such as Sunny Sports and Choctaw Ridge.

And keeping in line with the shop’s indie feel, Eunice’s friend, artist and alternative folk- rockerDevendra Banhart , spun some tunes at the crowded boutique party. His set list featured Serbian ’80s rock, selections from genre bending composer Arthur Russell and L.A.-band Hecuba.
