Going to the Movies...With Cher

Oh-oh! She’s here. The Icon. Ladies and gentlemen, Cher is in the building. It was movie night on "Dancing With The Stars" when the celebrities danced to motion picture movie scores.Let’s begin with the fashion—or should I say costumes. The celebrities were dressed in outfits corresponding to the movie score they were performing: “Raiders of the Lost Arc,” “Pink Panther,” “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “Rocky.” All in all, the costumes really enhanced the drama for the performances. But I wonder…what they do with these clothes after the celebs have sweated in them?J.R. Martinez danced to Mancini's "The Pink Panther." The show began with an exciting Paso Doble dance number performed to a medley of movie scores. Louis Van Amstel, one of the pro dancers, choreographed the number. For the celebrities’ performances, some of them did very well. Others did enough to keep them in the competition.Hope Solo performed the dreaded Fox Trot to the score from “Toy Story.” (You know, “You’ve Got a Friend.”) I think she did enough to stay on the show. But, you never know.Rob Kardashian danced the Paso Doble to the score from “Superman.” He did a decent job. And he did look like Clark Kent. Passive.Mr.Hoot himself, Carson Kressley performed the Viennese Waltz to the scorefrom “Pirates of the Caribbean”—in all his pirate glory. The dance wasokay but he is clearly having a lot of fun and he is very entertaining. He quipped that he was portraying a group of men who go around dressedin tights looking for jewelry.Carson Kressley performed to "Pirates of the Caribbean". Unfortunately, poor Chynna Phillips had a bad night. She performed the Tango to the “Mission Impossible” movie score. And sorry, that mission was a failure. Once she lost her footing, it was down hill from there. Her partner Tony Dovolani just carried her around like a deer caught in headlights. This contender may be in trouble. We'll see.ChazBono was given the most appropriate movie score of the night. He dancedthe Paso Doble to the movie score “Rocky.” No matter how many times youget knocked down, you keep on keeping on. The dance was not bad but hestill may be in elimination trouble. Chaz Bono: "Rocky"Cher appeared as she promised. She gave her son a standing ovation and shed some tears when Chaz received his highest scores so far. Can you sing, “You Believe in Life… After Dancing With the Stars!” Nancy Grace performed the Paso Doble to the score from “Flash Gordon.” (Huh?)And she said she didn't want to be the bull…isn't that the pot calling the kettle black. Confused? Let me explain. The Paso Doble represents a bull fight. The man represents the red cape and the woman represents the bull to be killed. Just so we’re clear: Nancy Grace, not a bull. But maybe she’s going home.

Tickets are priced at $50 and will go on sale Tuesday morning, October 11 at Christies.com/elizabethtaylor.I just attended the press preview this morning and may I just say, the collection is simply stunning. The pieces on display - only a fraction of the 2000 piece collection - include some of the finest jewels in the world. Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton were two of the most avid and passionate collectors. According to Marc Porter, Chairman and President of Christie's America, the collection is worth over $50 million and is the single most important collection of jewelry ever sold. It includes the finest pieces from every category, every house and every gem. Not to mention all the history, Hollywood memoirs and romance that accompanies them. Known as "The Crown Jewels of Hollywood," the collection includes the 33.19 carat Elizabeth Taylor Diamond and a spectacular pearl necklace featuring the former crown jewel of Spain now worth $2 to $3 million. Angelenos will be happy to know they have an extra special addition to the exhibition. Taylor's three Oscar statutes are on display (courtesy of Taylor's family) as well as the original hard back scripts from "Cat On A Hot Tin Roof" and "National Velvet." Ten thousand visitors have already viewed the exhibition in Moscow and in London. After Los Angeles, the tour will continue to Dubai, Geneva, Paris, Hong Kong and New York. Christie's New York will offer the complete collection for sale in two parts, beginning with four consecutive days of auctions December 13-16. Taylor’s collection of fine art will be offered at Christie’s London February 6-7, 2012.Why sell this collection you may ask? According to Christie's it was a decision made by Taylor herself. She considered herself only a temporary custodian of these luxurious items and wished for others to "give them a good home" and enjoy them as much as she did. Staying true to Taylor's devotion to humanitarian causes, a portion of the profits generated by ticket sales, events and select publications will be donated to The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation (ETAF).
