YMI Parties for Its B-Day at CMC

It was the end of the first day at the Majors Market at the California Market Center, and denim label YMI celebrated with a party for its 10th anniversary at the CMC Lobby.

House duo Posso played while guests dined on spicy tuna rolls and edamame hummus from hip Japanese restaurant Katsuya. The CMC Lobby was the top place to throw the party said David Vered, president of YMI. He first thought of starting a denim line while working at trade shows at the CMC more than a decade ago.

Since then, he built it up to a $40 million company that sells jeans to Nordstrom, Belk’s, JC Penney, Deb Shops and Tilly’s among others prominent retailers. For this Majors Market which ends Oct. 5, YMI debuted its handbag and footwear lines.

At the party, Vered also reflected on his 10-years making a denim business in Los Angeles. “It’s a helluva ride,” he said. Word!
