Gypsy 05 Spring 2012

Surrounded by models and dancers backstage at Style Fashion Week, Gypsy 05 co-founder Dotan Shoham said his label’s exhibition of its Spring Summer 2012 collection would, indeed, be a show. “It’s art, dance and music,” he said of the 52-look runway event, held Oct. 19 at Vibiana.

It started with a modern dance vignette by the Ptero Dance Theatre. Later, with a thumping house-music beat, models took the runway showing Gypsy 05's Spring/Summer 2012 collection.

Gypsy 05’s popular maxi dress has been popular for the past couple of seasons. However, the Spring/Summer 2012 version of the piece was marked with Native American designs. Also taking the stage were garments such as long flowing white pants. “It makes everyone look like a supermodel when they wear it,” Gypsy 05 designer Osi Shoham said. Shorts, tank tops and yoga pants took their place in the collection. They were often dyed with wild colors. Gypsy 05’s palette featured quot;poison green, quot; sort of a deep jade, as well as a lively purple and turquoise blue, all made at Gypsy 05’s solar-powered dyehouse in Los Angeles.

After the show, the Gypsy 05 audience was treated to a performance of rock band Bad Decisions, which featured “Entourage” star Jeremy Piven on drums. The band covered the Rolling Stones' hit “Jumping Jack Flash” during their set.—Andrew Asch Photos from the event can be found here.
