Installations by Mike Vensel, Liaison, ISM Mode, Michelle Laine and Valerj Pobega

Guests tried to keep cool in the stifling heat inside ACE Gallery by sipping Cheerwine and ginger cocktails while lining up along the side galleries, where Mike Vensel, Liaison, ISM Mode, Valerj Pobega and Michelle Laine had installations on Oct. 14 at Concept Los Angeles Fashion Week.

Vensel paired his sleek, sophisticated blue and black silk dresses with an Egyptian-themed background, complete with hieroglyphics and attendants fanning an elegant model on her throne. Liaison featured a lone model in an edgy, long-sleeved, black V-neck romper sitting in front of a grainy video of herself, while ISM Mode channeled Aimee Mann’s ’Til Tuesday look with a punkish ’80s take on ’40s-style small mesh hats, rolled hair and sleeveless dresses. Pobega went for a free-spirited, woodsy black-and-white theme, featuring sheer, flowy dresses and models with flowers in their hair, while Laine channeled a futuristic Western look with Victorian-inspired blazers, spliced leather vests and dresses, and heavy silver jewelry.—Deidre Crawford
