WWIN Show Keeps Its Successful Profile

Organizers of the WWIN (Women’s Wear in Nevada) show at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino said nearly 850 booths comprising 1,500 lines took part in the biannual show, held Aug. 22–25.

That is about the same number as last year, said Roland Timney, one of the organizers of the event, put on by Specialty Trade Shows Inc.

The show, geared for updated womenswear, keeps its exhibitors at a steady number.

“We had a wonderful show,” said Rick Sobin, a sales representative for a number of apparel lines—including Caite, Libra, Radzoli and Suko Jeans—and a regular exhibitor. “I just found buyers were more optimistic. People were in a buying mood.”

He said many of the retailers he saw were from the middle areas of the country, such as Texas and Colorado. “I found that not as many California stores were going as in the past,” he said.

Linda French—who represents Los Angeles labels Stop Staring!, Chalet and Color Me Cotton—said attendance was lighter than in years past, but the buyers who were there were serious and placing orders.
