Lucky Brand Moving to Downtown LA in January

Lucky Brand is moving its headquarters to a new building in downtown Los Angeles at the beginning of next year, according to company executives.

Currently located in Vernon, Calif., the company initially planned to move by the end of the year, but it is now planning on relocating in early January, according to Melissa Cabot, senior director of marketing for Lucky Brand.

The premium-denim lifestyle brand, owned by New York–based Liz Claiborne, will be moving into a new 50,000-square-foot office building in the downtown Arts District, at 540 S. Santa Fe Ave., near the Fashion District.

quot;It has been in the works for well over a year,quot; Cabot said. quot;The move is really just part of a consolidation of multiple buildings, and in the new space, we’ll be under one roof, which we’re really excited about.quot;

Past media reports stated the building would be a multi-use space with additional office space for lease to other creative companies, but Cabot denied this.

quot;The space will be 100 percent Lucky,quot; she said.

The other major factor in the move is the relocation of the company’s distribution center to the centralized location, Cabot said. In the past, distribution happened in Vernon, where the company has been headquartered for 18 years.

The $18 million property is opened and operated by C.E.G. Construction, which worked with Lucky and the City's office of Business and Economic Policy on the deal, which includes a 10-year lease worth $15 million.

In an earlier statement announcing the development, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said the move helped solidify L.A.’s standing as a center for fashion and creativity.

quot;This is a great day for Los Angeles’ thriving, diverse fashion industry,quot; he said. quot;Lucky Brand’s move to Los Angeles reinforces our status as the creative and innovative capital of the world.quot; —Deidre Crawford
