Do These Shoes Make My Butt Look Big?

Thanks to the LA Times for the heads up and the pic!

You can still walk your way to fitness, you just shouldn’t expect your shoes to do all the work.

Footwear and fitness giant Reebok International has agreed to refund $25 million to consumers in a settlement agreement with the Federal Trade Commission, which found that Reebok’s toning shoes did not strengthen muscles, as claimed.

Reebok—and several other footwear brands—have been touting their shoes as “proven” to help build muscle and burn fat. The FTC said “prove it,” but Reebok could not.

In the company’s commercials, Reebok claimed its Easy Tone shoes could give the wearer “better legs and better butt with every step.”

Even waaaay back in 1991, Nike was poking fun at the idea that shoes make the althete in its classic “Is it the shoes?” spot with Michael Jordan and Spike Lee.

"It’s gotta be the shoes.”

“No, Mars.”
