Joe’s Jeans Debuts Flagship Store in Los Angeles

Los Angeles premium-denim manufacturer Joe’s Jeans has a prime retail location for its new West Coast flagship store—decorated with sparkling crystal chandeliers, a beamed ceiling and French doors.

The 2,700-square-foot store, which opened Aug. 16 at 8432 Melrose Place, also has a garden and outdoor sitting area. The interior is decorated with vintage furniture, arched mirrors and neutral-colored walls.

The company’s complete denim and contemporary collection of men’s and women’s clothes and accessories such as shoes and handbags are stocked at the store.

“With Los Angeles being home to our brand, we wanted our Melrose Place boutique to reflect an inviting and at-home feeling,” said Joe Dahan, the label’s creative director and founder.

This is Joe’s Jeans’ second store in Southern California. It has another store at Santa Monica Place in Santa Monica, Calif.

It also has five other free-standing locations—in New York, Miami, Chicago, Atlanta and San Francisco. It is opening its eighth store, at South Coast Plaza in Irvine, Calif.

Joe’s Jeans is following a formula started by other apparel companies. Instead of relying only on sales to retailers, it is expanding its revenues by setting up its own stores to boost profit margins and make sure the collection is displayed and merchandised with utmost precision. Joe’s Jeans are carried by big-name retailers such as Nordstrom and Bloomingdale’s and retail for $158 to $189.

Last year, Joe’s Jeans lost $1.36 million on $95.4 million in revenues.
