Talenthouse Connects Creative Community With Opportunities to Succeed

Want to design a T-shirt for DJ Steve Aoki? Or for music group Thievery Corporation?

Perhaps you think you’re the new face of BCBGMaxAzria. Or perhaps you’re sure your band could make it big if only you got a shot at performing at the South by Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas.

Talenthouse is a website offering a chance to land these gigs as well as many other creative opportunities, from logo and album design to scholarships with the Paul Taylor Dance company.

Based in Los Angeles; Palo Alto, Calif.; New York; and London, Talenthouse is an online venue where the creative community can interact and collaborate on a wide range of projects, including film, fashion, music, art and design, and photography. Some projects are paid, others are not. It’s free to join the community and to respond to requests for submissions—called Creative Invites.

Artists and brands submit a Creative Invite, which includes the scope of the work, requirements, deadlines and criteria for selecting the winning entry.

For example, BCBGMaxAzria and fashion blog Refinery29 recently teamed up for a contest to find the next BCBG model. The two issued a Creative Invite requesting photos or videos.

BCBG Creative Director Lubov Azria and editors from Refinery29 will select 10 women from the submissions and fly them to Los Angeles to be photographed and featured in the company’s social-media channels, on its website and in stores. A grand prize will be chosen from among the 10 finalists, and she will receive a $5,000 BCBG wardrobe and be featured in the company’s Spring 2013 campaign.

Talenthouse members will be invited to vote for their favorites among all the submissions. The “people’s choice” winner will appear on BCBG social-media channels and receive $1,000 in BCBG merchandise.

More information about the BCBG/Refinery29 Creative Invite can be found at www.talenthouse.com/model-bcbg?tab=0.

Some of Talenthouse’s recently concluded fashion-focused Creative Invites included  opportunities to design for British fashion house Issa and for an exhibition of work by British milliner Stephen Jones. Fashion publicist and fashion reality show scene-stealer Kelly Cutrone issued a Creative Invite for runway photographers, offering a chance to shoot a runway fashion show, backstage and at VIP fashion parties, as well as the chance to “roll with Cutrone in all her impulsive moments.”
