Schiff Joins American Apparel

Basics manufacturer and retailer American Apparel Inc. hired Jordan Schiff, a former Urban Outfitters Inc. executive and analyst at Deloitte, to be a general merchandise manager for the Los Angeles–based company.

Schiff worked in buying and communications for Urban Outfitters from 2009 to 2012. He was a senior associate for Deloitte Consulting and Deloitte Financial Advisory Services and consulted on management issues from 2006 to 2008. Dov Charney, American Apparel’s chief executive officer, said Schiff will play a crucial role at American Apparel. “Jordan possesses a strong balance of creative and analytic skill,” Charney said. “We look forward to his leadership and the pivotal role he’ll play in our future development.”

The news comes at a time of changes in American Apparel’s executive ranks. Tom Casey, the company’s acting president, resigned in November. Marty Staff, the company’s chief development officer, resigned in October.—A.A.
