New Textile Show to Focus on Low Minimums

A frequent refrain at textile shows is "What is your minimum?" It is often repeated by small design companies struggling to find textile resources that sell fabrics in small quantities.

Susan Power, owner of AboutSources, the New York B2B apparel and textile resource and advisory company, hopes to solve that problem with the launch of the DGExpo on Feb. 6–7 at the Hotel Pennsylvania in New York.

The new trade show will feature 45 textile and trim suppliers for apparel, accessories, home décor and other sewn products.

"We've got something the industry needs," Power said, noting that exhibitors will have minimums of 300 yards or less. "I will have resources that will sell you one yard."

Among the companies already signed up to exhibit are BNB Textiles, Carr Textile, Exotic Silks, Fabric Avenue, HWC/ Hamburger Woolen Co., Labels Inter-Global, Michael Miller Fabrics, Novatex International, One World Button Co., Philips Boyne Corp., Rainbow Leather, Robert Kaufman, Sextet Fabrics, Shannon Fabrics, Stylecrest Fabrics and Zinman Textiles.

A complete list of current exhibitors is available on the DGExpo website (www.dgexpo.net).

The show will also feature a full slate of business seminars, including a trend forecast by Pantone, as well as business seminars by AboutSources, Los Angeles–based fashion nonprofit Fashion Business Inc. and Gaston College's Textile Technology Center.—Alison A. Nieder
