Spotted: Bella Dahl

If you’ve driven along Olympic Boulevard in downtown Los Angeles recently, you may have spotted the giant Bella Dahl billboard above the entrance to the Packard Lofts building across from the Fashion Institute of Design Merchandising. There is a second billboard on the other side of the building, as well (pictured below).

I recently caught up with Kerry Jolna, president of EMJ Apparel Group, and owner of the Bella Dahl brand at the Texworld USA trade show in New York. He told me the lifestyle brand is on quite a roll since Jolna reintroduced it last year.

Today, the brand is in 600 retailers, including Bergdorf Goodman, Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom, Kitsonand E Street Denim. Designed and made in Los Angeles, Bella Dahl is also selling in Japan, Europe, Canada and Australia.

“Right now, we’re moving so fast with so many things going on,” Jolna told me.

The Bella Dahl collection includes jean and tops in “super soft” fabrications and “unusual wash treatments,” Jolna said—as he’s right, he had a Bella Dahl lightweight denim shirt in his totebag and it did indeed have a buttery-soft hand.
