Trina Turk, Banana Republic to Launch Capsule Collection

Banana Republic is getting a dose of Palm Springs, Calif., style thanks to Los Angeles designer Trina Turk, who will launch a limited-edition capsule collection at the Gap-owned retail chain beginning in June.

The Banana Republic Trina Turk Collection of Summer essentials will be sold at Banana Republic stores in the United States, Canada, the U.K., Italy, France, Japan, Turkey and Korea, as well as online in 24 countries through the company’s international e-commerce sites (www.bananarepublic.com, www.bananarepublic.ca, and www.bananarepublic.eu).

The 60-piece collection will incorporate Turk’s Palm Springs–inspired aesthetic, said Banana Republic Creative Director Simon Kneen.

“I find myself continually inspired by the cool, modern vibe of Southern California, and I wanted to bring that spirit to Banana Republic's Summer collection,” he said. “Trina’s signature prints are beloved and embody the aspirational Palm Springs lifestyle, so she was a natural partner for Banana Republic's capsule collection this Summer.”

The line will feature apparel and accessories, including dresses, swim separates and beach towels—many in Turk’s original prints.

“When we began working together on the collaboration, Simon and I decided early on that the Palm Springs ‘cocktails-by-the-pool’ lifestyle would be our key inspiration for the colors, styles and prints,” Turk said. “I'm excited to offer this collection of colorful, covetable and unique pieces to Banana Republic customers for Summer 2012.”

San Francisco–based Gap Inc. operates more than 600 Banana Republic retail locations around the world.
