Brazilian fashion standing out in the world. Diversity in prints, colors and patterns, creative design, versatility in production, sustainability and knowledge of all the chain. These are some of the characteristics that differentiate Brazilian fashion abroad and help improve the country’s image with the international public. In order to reinforce this potential and assist the internationalization of the segment’s brands, Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association (ABIT), in partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil), has maintained the Brazilian Fashion Industry Export Program (Texbrasil) since 2000. Over the past 11 years, the project, in which currently nearly 300 companies participate, has assisted Brazilian brands to generate a business volume of $269 million. It develops marketing efforts in trade intelligence, promotion, communication, and image strengthening. Its many activities include assistance to the presence of Brazilian brands at international trade shows. 207 events have been supported, invoicing $182 million. Another activity is the Buyer Project, which aims at uniting the two points of the chain: those who want to buy and those who want to sell. The Program also invites foreign journalists and buyers to the main Brazilian fashion events. If you want to sample the rich culture of Brazil and discover its intense fashion production through the Texbrasil, sign up at www.texbrasil.com.br/texbrasil/press or www.texbrasil.com.br/texbrasil/buyers.

This year is Anne Cole’s 30th anniversary!None other than Anne Cole herself, and her favorite poolside destinations around the world, inspired our 2013 Signature collections. Resort possesses the chic atmosphere of Club 55, St Tropez. The rich color palette reflects the cliffs, water, and luxury yachts of this French hot spot. Along with our classic stripes, we introduced a modern palm and teak print from artist Francis Spitta. Cruise’s tropical destination, with a vibrant color palette, was inspired by Acapulco, Mexico. The vintage floral and cultural prints pair perfectly with our solid bestsellers for an easy mix-and-match swim wardrobe. For spring and summer we had one of California’s hottest poolsides in mind—Palm Springs! Driven by mid-century modern art, the prints and colors emulate breathtaking desert sunsets. Anne Cole Signature swimwear continues to inspire beauty and confidence—offering every woman a look she can relate to with outstanding fit and quality. www.annecole.com

Carina Goldfarb started the Azul Collection because she couldn’t find any swimwear that fit well and was a nice design for her daughters. Everything looked oversized, and when the girls went to the water, the suits looked soggy. She went to Uruguay and started a line of her own. “Azul,” Spanish for “blue,” is her favorite color and the color of clear water. Later she started production in Brazil, where she could introduce the more detailed and intricate details with beautify embroideries and crochets. The Azul Swimwear line isknown for the high-quality fabrics, fun and daring combinations of prints, and great fit.Azul doesn’t just offer a great suit but also the accessories that match the suit: head bands, hats, and skirts. All are made with the same fabrics as the suits, so they can go in the water as well. The inspirations for the collection can come form anything: “I love the swimwear from Brazil and I follow what they do closely. They are the best in the world!!! But I look at fashion in general—even shoes and hand bags—for inspiration,” Goldfarb said. A few years ago, Azul added swim trunks for boys with great success. There was a void that needed to be filled. Azul does both shorter elastic waist-band shorts (very European) and boardshorts (surfer style). Unisex 50% UPF rash guards in many colors, and the latest addition is the shorts for men, many of them match the print for the kids. Super cute … dad and son matching shorts. www.azulsimwear.com (310) 398-9042, or info.azulswimwear.com

Beach Rays, a division of JY Rays, Inc., has experienced a great response to its new direction and expanded divisions over the last couple of years. Our contemporary women’s  (collection)—Wet—for the girl who’s heading to an exotic island—and our surfer girl (young contemporary)—Ray—heads to the beach.  The retro styling of high-waist two pieces, photo images, and the vintage tropicals in prints give a total “glam look” for Wet,  while its sister, Ray, uses these same themed prints in smocked tops and bottoms, midriff tops, and flirty shorts.  Adorable! Our children’s divisions—Ray Ray (infant through youth) and Vroom Vroom (infant through toddler) and Vast for juvenile/youth boys—continue to evolve. The little guys reflect the “cuteness” of babies (owl prints and stripes for guys and petite florals and checks for girls) while the juvenile through youth look mom/dad or big sister/brother. Boys have same themes as seen in Vast, and girls are a combo of retro and beach play as with our women’s divisions.www.beachrays.com

Miami-based contemporary swimwear label La Belle Rebelle is presenting its first collection at this year’s SwimShow. This first collection presents retro-inspired silhouettes featuring high waisted briefs, bustiers, and maillots with delicate lace and ruffled details. Prints vary from soft, romantic florals and pop candy colors all the way to powerful, rock ’n’ roll imagery mixed with textured, leather-like solids. Each and every suit is crafted with silky, high-quality Italian fabrics as well as corseterie accessories. Wholesale price ranges from $80 to $115. www.labellerebelle.us

Trina Turk has partnered with artist Rex Ray to create an exclusive swim print that will be featured in Trina Turk’s Cruise 2013 Swim collection, debuting at the Miami Swim Show. The wood-block printed, cut-and-paste art style that Rex Ray uses has a hip vintage vibe, making his prints a perfect fit for the first Trina Turk/Artist Collaboration. Together, Trina Turk and Rex Ray were able to develop a swim print directly inspired by one of Rex Ray’s original works. A special hangtag will accompany each garment in the collection, signifying the partnership between designer and artist. Rex Ray is a San Francisco–based fine artist whose collages and paintings have been exhibited in galleries across the country. He has created work for Apple, Dreamworks, Sony Music and Warner Bros., designing over 100 historic rock ’n’ roll posters for bands such as David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, REM, Bjork, U2 and Radiohead. Beach Rays’ men’s divisions, including Vast (surf line), continue to focus on the latest technology in fabrications (our four-way stretch - “QUAD” fused seaming, tubular legs, quick dry, great hand) wasmanufacturer based out of Taiwan with factories all over Asia. This year the Hybrid, which looks like a cargo and goes from the pier to the water, is made of four-way stretch (Quad) and is predominately in great plaids and stripes. Other great trends in prints are the vintage tropicals and “photo-real” prints using some new, interesting fabrications.  Shorter lengths have been trending for a couple of years now, but the Surfer is now catching not only “the wave but the drift!”  Lengths are varying from 5” to 8”... not as many 10”/11” (these are inseam lengths) as in the past. Beach Rays is now only swimwear.  Really exciting with many interesting trends and a variety of lengths ( 5” to 8” inseams).  Vintage florals and conversationals to geometric composes and more. Most have some elastic, but others have our “latitude” waist bands (tunneled drawstring inside to adjust waist). They have had great response. And the biggest news: We have signed a licensee agreement with Surfer Magazine for young men’s and women’s surf and swim.  We’re super-excited, and more details will be announced in the near future. www.beachrays.com
