Hudson Opens at Satine

Hudson Jeans and Flaunt magazine teamed up for a night of fashion and revelry when the denim company opened its shop-in-shop at Satine. A super-hip crowd turned out to view the space while sipping cocktails and listening to DJ Jimi Hey spinning throughout the night. The second-story mezzanine of the boutique was transformed with Hudson product and photographs from Flaunt’s photo archives.

Hudson Chief Executive Officer Peter Kim said the collaboration is a product of the ongoing relationship with Flaunt and a successful One Voice event held with Satine.

“It was such a success. I love the people [at Satine]. We got along really well, and we thought what more can we do?” he explained.

“[Flaunt Editor-in-Chief Luis Barajas has many] years of pictures and history and all this nuttiness, so we thought it would be a super-cool way to get us all together and do something cool and different.”

The party was held in conjunction with the debut of Flaunt’s photo exhibition, “You Will Be Scene: 10 Years of Flaunt Magazine’s Nighttime Escapades,” and the event showcased a slice of Hollywood history. Photos of Courtney Love, Brad Pitt, Jeremy Scott, Lindsay Lohan and Bobby Brown and many more from the L.A. nightlife scene are all part of the exhibition, which runs through Aug. 13.

Barajas hinted that the exhibition— and the party—could be the first in a series.

“[Peter is] an amazing guy. He’s very pro L.A., and I’m very pro L.A, so we’re trying to support the establishments,” Barajas said.

“We’ll probably do a stronger one [in the future]. This is the beginning.”

The editor then returned to the party and the exhibition, pointing out a memorable image: “That picture of Lindsay Lohan and Whitney Houston together says a thousand words.” —N. Jayne Seward
