Mercedes Benz Swim... Blame It On The Rain

La Perla's installation at Mercedes Benz Swim

With the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Andrew (no relation, seriously) fast approaching, Mother Nature sent an anniversary gift to Miami’s South Beach neighborhood. A rain storm; flooding streets, shaking trees-- and getting nothing more than a collective shrug from the locals.

But a little, well actually a lot of, rain, did not get in the way of Mercedes Benz Swim fashion shows, all of which were blissfully produced under roofs that night.

The Swim Show Lingerie Show produced an epic show of 270 swim looks at the Miami Convention Center. Italian fashion line La Perla presented its Spring Summer 2013 line of swimwear, which was inspired by the architecture of rural Sicily and of course by the line’s celebrated lingerie.

Later that evening, SoCal brand Oakley debuted swimwear looks of bikinis, one-pieces and performance swimwear. Immediately following the show, a deejay set from celebrity Nick Cannon. There were plenty of other standout shows that night, look out for more news on them in Apparel News.
