Georges Marciano's Former Properties Up for Sale

Just as the Guess apparel company is celebrating its 30th anniversary in Los Angeles this year, the former Beverly Hills homes of the Guess? founder, Georges Marciano, are up for sale by the trustee of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court.

The principal home at 1000 Crescent Dr., just a stone's throw from the Beverly Hills Hotel, is fabulous. I can speak from personal experience since I once interviewed Georges there in 2009 when he declared he was running for governor of California.

The place was stuffed with art work and the front of the house looked like a luxury car lot with a number of Ferraris and Rolls Royces parked outside.

But Georges, who in 1993 left the apparel company he founded, lost a court case where he was countersued by several employees he accused of embezzling funds. The judge awarded the employees $470 million, which later was reduced to $260 million.

The house at 1000 Crescent Dr. is on sale for $24.5 million. The other two hosues are for sale for $8.25 million and $10.5 million.

Earlier this year, the Montreal Gazette reported that Georges, who had moved to Montreal, had his art collection seized.
