After 22 years in The New Mart, Focus Showroom has moved into a larger space on the second floor of the Cooper Design Space.

The multi-line, independent showroom has expanded into a 3,000-square-foot showroom that runs along the front of the Cooper building.

“We were ready for more space,” said Sylvana Lankshear, co-owner of Focus. “The move represents a major new beginning—a new chapter.”

Focus carries lines by Nicole Miller, Madison Marcus, Erin by Erin Fetherston, SW3 Bespoke and Cynthia Steffe, as well as Nicole Miller’s new day dress and sportswear collection, Artelier.

“We’re not a jeans and T-shirt showroom. We’re more about collections, color and luxury,” Lankshear said.

The seven bright, ceiling-tall windows give the space a feel “much like a New York loft,” she said.

The large, open-plan showroom was designed by her husband, co-owner John Lankshear, who said he intentionally left the space minimal and modern, with everything painted white, even the hanging bars, so as to best showcase the clothes.

John Lankshear’s background in advertising and branding helped him in designing the showroom and also allows him to position the designers more effectively, Sylvana Lankshear said.

Some of Focus’s clients include Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, Madison and Piperlime, for whom they supply both branded and private-label apparel. Lines in the showroom tend to wholesale from $39 to upwards of $350 for beaded collection gowns.—Deidre Crawford
